Show Drawn is the combination of Brian Butler's two favorite things, drawing and concerts. The passions collided for the first time in 2008, when he illustrated a blood-soaked GWAR concert, live from the mosh pit. Over time the practice of drawing at shows has become more than a hobby, and perimeters have been set for the drawings.
The guideline for each Show Drawn illustration is to capture as much as possible within the time frame of the event. That means filling sketchbook pages with notable people and moments throughout the night, until the end of the event. When the show is done, the drawing is done.
Since adopting the Show Drawn name, Brian has been traveling the globe to draw everything in his path. Highlights include illustrating Bonnaroo Music Festival, SXSW, The Fest, Governor's Ball, Ultra Music Festival, Riot Fest, FYF, Pitchfork Music Festival, CMJ, and countless concerts and events, ranging from album release parties, to drag shows, to mysterious aquarium dolphin shows (equipped with with lasers).
This site was developed to archive Brian's illustrated recaps, and hopefully fund future adventures.
